gulf oysters at reef & animal farm’s “open house”

last friday “ol girl” and i went to 3rd bar @ reef to have a few cocktails and get down on some oysters.  the oysters were small & briny so i assumed that the wonderful bi-valves had to be from the east or west coast but after bryan told us they were from the gulf i was stunned!  don’t get me wrong i dig gulf oysters but i simply had never had gulf oysters so small and delicious.  bryan has done a great job sourcing products and exposing houston to the wonderful local bounties the gulf coast gives us!  very, very impressive!

anyway, as i was settling the bill i saw gita and her husband cas in the corner enjoying the fruits of their labor.  they own & operate “animal farm” permaculture center in cat springs and it jogged my memory of their open house that they are hosting on sunday 4/27 @ 10am-4pm.

the open house will give the public a chance to tour to the gardens, sustainable buildings & renewable energy systems.  the farm is located about one hour west of houston or two hours east of austin.
